What is micro-needling?
Micro-needling is an advanced, non-surgical procedure that can revitalize your skin from the effects of time. By using a handpiece with several very fine needles at the tip, this gentle treatment can correct the appearance of wrinkles, scarring, acne scars, and pigmentation among other skin inconsistencies. A member of our highly trained medical team will carefully maneuver this handpiece over the surface of the skin. As the micro-needles make contact, they will create tiny microchannels that help influence your body’s production of collagen and elastin, which are two key proteins that help keep our skin looking youthful and healthy. Once the production of these two proteins have begun, patients can feel the difference of silkier skin.
Why micro-needling?
- Micro-needling is a fast, non-surgical treatment that can help restore youthful skin
- Micro-needling is gentle on the skin
- Micro-needling has a significantly lower risk of patients contracting harsh side effects than some laser treatments
- Micro-needling can improve the appearance of wrinkles, stretch marks, acne scarring, and several kinds of pigmented lesions
-
Micro-needling does not require any downtime for recovery
How long does the micro-needling treatment take?
The amount of time a micro-needling session may take will depend upon the part
of the body being treated as well as what each individual patient would like
to accomplish from this procedure. Usually, a micro-needling session can take
as fast as 15 minutes, making it easier to fit into your busy schedule than
some extensive laser treatments.
Microneedling W/ PRP
The addition of PRP from the blood may make microneedling more effective. The liquid in blood is plasma, while platelets are solid. Platelets help blood clot, so they are vital for healing wounds and injuries. PRP is plasma in which the concentration of platelets is higher than that of other components of the blood. PRP contains proteins, including growth factors and cytokines. These proteins help skin tissue repair itself.
