Pre-Procedure Instructions: Dermal or Soft Tissue Cosmetic Rejuvenation (Juvederm, Belotero, Restylane, Radiesse)
- Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS, such as naproxen, ibuprofen, meloxicam, etc.), vitamin E, ginger, gingko, fish oil, ginseng and garlic 10-14 days prior to the procedure, as they may cause excessive bruising
- If you are having injections around the mouth, please tell your doctor if you have a history of cold sores
- Please tell you doctor if you have a history of severe allergic reactions or history of bleeding disorders or are on blood thinners. Please bring medication and allergy lists to your appointment.
After Care Instructions - What to Expect
- Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, saunas or facials for the next 1-2 days as this may increase bruising and swelling
- Ice packs may be applied for up to 10-15 minutes per hour for the first couple days to reduce swelling. Do NOT ice continuously.
- Avoid sleeping with pressure directly to treatment areas. Sleeping propped up with a couple pillows may also reduce swelling.
- Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS, such as naproxen, ibuprofen, meloxicam, etc.), vitamin E, ginger, gingko, fish oil, ginseng and garlic for 10-14 days
- Avoid dental work or teeth cleaning for the next 2 weeks
- Bruising, swelling, tenderness, and redness may occur in the treatment area and may last for several days. Bruising may persist for 1-2 weeks. If the area appears dusky purple, white, or is unusually painful, please contact our clinic.
- Treated areas may feel uneven, nodular, or appear asymmetrical. This is normal for the first 1-2 weeks, but please contact us if persistent.
- If you had Radiesse, these particles are radiopaque and may be visible in x-rays and CT scans. Inform your doctor if needed.
- Gentle cleansing and daily sunscreen use is recommended. Make-up or concealer may be applied, but avoid if skin is broken open
Before Your Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport Cosmetic Treatment
- Avoid taking aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS, such as naproxen, ibuprofen, meloxicam, etc.), vitamin E, ginger, gingko, fish oil, ginseng and garlic 10-14 days prior to and after the procedure, as they may cause excessive bruising.
- Please tell you doctor if you have a history of severe allergic reactions or history of bleeding or certain neuromuscular disorders. Please bring a medication list with you.
After Your Cosmetic Treatment
- Do not rub or massage the treated area for 24-hours after the treatment. Use gentle care when washing the face or applying makeup.
- Do not do strenuous activity or exercise for the remainder of the day. Please also avoid excessive heat, saunas, or facials for the next 1-2 days as this may increase your risk of swelling and side effects.
- Remain upright for 4 hours after your treatment.
- Try to gently exercise the treated muscle for the next 1-2 hours. This may help increase on the onset of activity but will not negatively affect the outcome if you forget!
- The results of your treatment may take up for 14 days for full efficacy. Most patients start to see effects within 4-5 days.
- If you feel that you need an adjustment to the treatment area please contact our clinic - you may be responsible for additional cost of products used.
- Should you notice any undesired effects such as asymmetry, please contact our clinic.
- Treatment effects usually last an average of 3-4 months. Your doctor recommends you follow-up prior to the product wearing off completely to assess your response to treatments and for best efficacy. Regular follow up with repeat injections is recommended for optimal results.
